FAQ's
Do you do free estimates?
All estimates are free and are unobligated.
How much do you charge?
For call‑outs, the charge is the call‑out rate plus travel. The callout fee is £80, and each additional hour is £55. Travel is charged at the same hourly rate on a pro‑rata basis. This pricing applies only to reactive or urgent call‑out work.
How are other jobs priced?
All planned work — including installations, EICRs, EV chargers, security systems, data cabling and PAT testing — is priced individually after assessment to ensure an accurate and fair quote.
How much do you charge for an EICR?
A standard domestic EICR for properties up to 4 bedrooms is a fixed price of £400 + travel. I take the time to carry out the inspection properly and produce a fully completed, accurate report. An EICR cannot be done correctly in two hours — a thorough assessment requires care and detail. With me, you know the inspection is done properly and you’ll receive a true, honest account of your electrical installation.
Do I need an Electrician?
Electrical work which is carried out by a competent skilled electrician who is up to date and adheres to the current British Standard Wiring Regulations (BS7671 18th Edition Amendment 4) will ensure that you and your property are safe.
I don't know if my smoke alarms comply?
If you are concerned that your fire alarm system isn't up to the new Scottish Government Legislation, this is something any homeowner can rectify themselves using battery operated smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms. A qualified electrician is NOT required for this. For any advice please don't hesitate to contact me- it's free!
